សញ្ញានៃសង្រ្គាមថ្មីមួយនៅពេលដែលចៅហ្វាយ 'BHQ' ត្រឡប់មកវិញ

General Hing Bun Hieng, the boss of BHQ, reappears after a month of absence, as BHQ troops continue to reinforce the Thai-Cambodian border.

On August 22, 2025, Thai soldiers discovered 2-3 Cambodian soldiers, suspected to be from the BHQ (Bodyguard Headquarters) unit, near Hill 350, in the Bak Dai subdistrict of Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin province, approximately 100 metres from the Thai operational line.

The Thai military responded by firing to drive them back into Cambodian territory. Afterwards, a PMN-2 landmine was found at the location where the Cambodian soldiers had been hiding.

On August 27, 2025, a Thai soldier was injured after stepping on a landmine, losing his right leg near the Ta Kwai Temple, close to Hill 350.

This confirmed earlier reports about the reinforcement of BHQ forces near Ta Meun Thom Temple and Ta Kwai Temple, which were accurate.

On August 28, 2025, Gen Hing Bun Hieng, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the BHQ Protection Command, was seen at two temples in Jom Krasan district, Preah Vihear province, where he delivered supplies and offerings to the monks.

This was the first public appearance of Hing Bun Hieng since the ceasefire on July 28, 2025, after rumours had circulated that he was dead, like Gen Srey Duk, the Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army.

On August 17, 2025, a video call from the Facebook account ANöuch ÄLeäp, the daughter of the BHQ unit commander, was posted, showing her father, who claimed to be on the frontlines. "For over two months, my father has been away from us, but his smile brings us happiness," she said.

Amid rumours of Hing Bun Hieng's death, BHQ’s official page showed activity from Gen Nop Rattananimon, Deputy Commander of the BHQ Protection Command. On August 24, Nop visited injured soldiers and delivered aid to the families of BHQ troops, representing Hing Bun Hieng.

On the same day, the Deputy Commander of the BHQ unit visited Lt Col Chia Wutthi, the commanding officer of the 1st BM-21 artillery battalion, who was recovering from injuries at Phnom Penh's Pra Ke Tu Mala Hospital (Hospital 179).

This incident highlights the BHQ’s main mission: supporting frontline troops by firing BM-21 multiple rocket launchers.

The BHQ unit structure consists of special forces, armoured units, and a support weapons battalion (BM-21 rockets).

Local or border soldiers in areas like Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces often question why BHQ soldiers, dressed sharply and earning high salaries, do not engage in actual combat, leaving local soldiers to sacrifice their lives on the frontlines.

Except for the final night before the ceasefire deadline at Ta Kwai Temple, Gen Hing Bun Hieng ordered the 911 Special Forces and BHQ troops to intercept Thai soldiers from capturing Hill 350.

In reality, the main mission of the BHQ is to launch multiple rocket salvos targeting Thailand's border, a tactic they call "Hanuman Crossing the Mountain Operation"

Gen Nop Rattananimon, a close confidant of Gen Hing Bun Hieng, is likely being groomed as the next commander of the BHQ.

Furthermore, as Deputy Commander of the BHQ, Gen Nop also serves as the Commander of the 999 Rapid Deployment Force.

Hing Bun Hieng's appearance after the sixth Thai soldier lost his leg to a landmine seems to send a signal to the Cambodian troops along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the Second Army, has authorised all units to open fire immediately if Cambodian soldiers are detected planting landmines or attempting to encroach on Thai territory.

All of this signals the onset of a new "war," as the Cambodian military, in their RBC negotiations, continue their guerrilla warfare tactics and fail to honour agreements, acting far from the ideals of a gentleman warrior.
